02 It's Your Community

As part of 02's ongoing commitment, the company has launched It’s Your Community, a new community fund to enable people to make a tangible, visible difference to where they live. The fund is open to applications from all members of the public and awards of up to £1,000 are available to support projects which bring people together, generate a sense of pride, and improve the local environment. Examples include creating community spaces and gardens; removing graffiti; tree planting; open spaces for all; and safer streets.

There has been a phenomenal response from the public across the country and to date 02 has granted several hundred awards to a wide range of community projects. These include funding to plant 2,000 trees in Prestwich community woodlands in Greater Manchester and the re-building of drystone walls in Barnsley, the MENCAP Hawthorne Centre in Leeds and a community football project inMiddleton.

02 is delighted with the response, so much so, that it has decided to substantially expand the programme by increasing  funding and the number of awards it grant seach year.  02 has established a larger fund which will enable it to award 60 grants a month for the next 12 months.
