Full description
An unusual offer from one of our Members …
Linn is a coach by day but, by night, she’s an amateur singer, who has learnt Scottish Gaelic and competed successfully at the Scottish Mod, which is a bit like the Welsh Eisteddfod.
She is offering an evening song workshop in her home, to give up to 12 Ladies a taste of Gaelic song, aiming to cover a song and its story from a variety of types including love song, lullaby, traditional song, exile song, piping song, luagh (tweed shrinking song), purt-a-beul (dance tune song), and caraid-na-hoidhche, over the space of two hours.
There will be a chance to join in all the songs over a glass of wine and a buffet (words and phonetics will be provided ) and, if participants are willing, a chance for a ceilidh afterwards (this means everyone having a turn at sharing a song or a story or a piece of instrumental playing). You don't need to be able to sing to attend!
Linn’s address will be confirmed 10 days before the event via an e-mail to the Ladies who have booked.
