29/06/2010
Burnley based Fashion Designer and Burnley College lecturer Carrie-Ann Toft, is headlining the prestigious fashion show ‘Glitz & Glamour’ in Liverpool on Friday 25th June, in aid of Caudwell Children’s Charity.
The local Fashion extraordinaire is only one of six chosen designers to showcase her collection to an audience of exclusive Liverpool celebs and glamorous WAGS.
Carrie-Ann Toft, who set up Burnley-based ladieswear company, René Boutique in 2003, won the coveted headline place above numerous other applicants. Speaking from her newly established studio in Burnley, Carrie said ‘I am obviously very pleased to be involved in such an exclusive event and can not wait to showcase my new collection to the awaiting celebrity audience’.
Carrie’s rise into the fashion industry has been a colourful one, with several celebrity endorsements and clients along the way, including supplying clothing for Celebrity Love Island, SoapStar SuperStar and is currently supplying clothing for wacky chart topper, Paloma Faith on her upcoming tour. Coupled with organizing over 20 fashion shows and personally raising over £30,000 for various local charities such as PendleSide Hospice, Carrie is still a local down-to-earth girl at heart. ‘Raising money for charity is something I am extremely passionate about. That is why I organize The Edge Fashion Show & Awards events, held right here in Burnley. They are a great way to get local aspiring designers involved and raise money for causes that are dear to me and the local community’.
Carrie-Ann will be showcasing her new collection alongside adding more avant-garde pieces which have been specially made to wow the glamorous audience, ensuring lots of press attention no doubt! Featuring hats and headpieces from Carrie’s close friend and talented Milliner Liz Parker, who supplies hats to A-List celebrities such as Dita Von Tesse, Will.I.AM, GoldFrapp, Faithless and Paloma Faith, accompanied by handmade jewellery from Burnley based designer Kate Sandilands, who formerly worked for Anna Lou of London and has seen her designs in Topshop. ‘The collection is fundamentally feminine, womanly silhouettes, floaty chiffon fabrics and lots of tailored volume. It is sophisticated, sometimes weird but always wonderful’
The event which is being covered by Radio City FM and is sponsored by Majestic Models and Bacardi will be held at Swanky WAG hangout, Igloo and starts at 8.30pm. Tickets are VIP only and are available from; info@majestic-models.com
