Find out more about Create’s catering company as well as how this award-winning social enterprise is making a huge impact in Leeds helping the vulnerable get back into work.
Create Restaurant, headed up by Richard Walton-Allen formerly of Harvey Nichols, as executive head chef, aims to put every penny it makes back into helping build people’s futures.
The Create Foundation was founded in 2007 and is a growing national social enterprise, with branches in Sunderland, Liverpool, Doncaster and more recently Salford and Manchester, providing training and work experience opportunities within the hospitality industry to those who most need it.
Originally establishing itself as a catering company, Create aims to specialise in serving locally sourced produce and a high standard of customer service. The Create Restaurant is expected to offer nothing less, with a variety of locally inspired dishes on offer thought-up by Walton-Allen and with a kitchen staffed by people who have been fully trained at the Create Employment Academy.
The Academy aims to provide free, accessible courses to people who are in vulnerable and helpless situations and are in need of that boost to re-start living their lives towards a brighter future. 12-week personalised courses mean that every case is individually taken into account and each individual is provided with something that will suit them and how they envisage their more positive future.
