A video sharing website has paved the way for a young businesswoman to make her first million.
Lauren Luke, 28, from South Shields became fascinated with make-up after being bullied at school and began giving make-up tips on You Tube, The Northern Echo reports.
Her demonstrations, which were filmed in her bedroom, became so popular that she has now launched her own cosmetics range and is set for global success.
Ms Luke has a stream of loyal followers, with her videos receiving more than 57 million hits from fans worldwide.
Speaking to the newspaper she said: “At school I was bullied and had no friends. I used to sit at home in my bedroom and try out different bits of make-up and styles.
“Then I fell pregnant and dropped out of school and did dead-end jobs.
So, to have this success doing something I love, and really making something of myself, is brilliant."
She added: “I can’t believe how things have taken off. It feels like a dream.”
Her make-up range, By Lauren Luke, is selling fast across the US, while she has also recently signed a book deal with publishers Hodder and Stoughton.
