UK Trade & Investment is the government organisation that provides integrated support and services to UK companies looking to achieve their overseas business potential.

Yorkshire and the Humber already plays a significant role internationally. Companies in the region are trading an amazing variety of products and services overseas, including design, architectural, health care, software design and education and training. At the same time, traditional industries such as engineering metals, high performance chemicals, textiles and food processing continue to perform extremely well. This is a region that is setting the pace!

Exports have increased in Yorkshire and the Humber from around £8 billion to over £10 billion and there has been a continuing upward trend in the number of exporters in the region.
Working with key partners such as Yorkshire Forward, UKTI assists and advises companies in their successful overseas trade ventures.
International trade is a two-way street and this is where our staff based around the world are key to the services we offer . We rely on them to keep the channels of information open for British companies wanting market information abroad and for overseas businesses wanting market information on the UK. The commercial staff in our embassies and consulates are the first port of call for many overseas companies looking for potential business opportunities in Yorkshire and the Humber.

UKTI International Trade Advisors work with both experienced exporters and  those who have not yet exported, but have the potential. In this region over 2,100 new companies have received advice and information and 324 successful new exporters are achieving significant proactive international business as a result of UKTI assistance.

Support available to companies comes in three categories:

• Advice and support, which includes advice from international trade advisors, support for overseas market research and selection of appropriate markets.
• Information and opportunities including overseas market intelligence reports
• Making it happen, including financial support to get to overseas markets and exhibitions, in country support by UKTI staff in the British Embassy or Consulate.
