Introducing Beaulah Chizimba, Founder of Limitless Nurses: A seasoned Leadership and Career Advancement Coach with over two decades of experience in the healthcare sector, Beaulah Chizimba migrated from Zimbabwe to the United Kingdom in her mid-20s.

Dedicated to practicing at the highest level of her nursing license, Beaulah recognised the lack of diversity in senior healthcare teams and, fuelled by her experiences, founded Limitless Nurses. This innovative platform empowers diverse healthcare professionals through tailored coaching, mentoring, and workshops, addressing crucial topics such as leadership growth and cross-cultural management.

Join us as Beaulah shares insights into her journey, the impactful work of Limitless Nurses, and her commitment to fostering positive change in the healthcare industry.

I migrated in my mid-20s to the United Kingdom from Zimbabwe 23 years ago. I studied nursing and have dedicated almost two decades to the public and private healthcare sectors. Having always known that I wanted to practice at the highest level of my nursing license and become a senior manager and leader, I began pursuing my own development and opportunities to lead me into the senior management and leadership team within NHS Clinical Commissioning Groups. With my experience working in senior teams with very little diversity and the professional loneliness that comes with it, I cultivated a profound passion for nurturing other diverse talent in healthcare to ensure that more nurses who looked like me could achieve their career ambitions.

My journey with Limitless Nurses began as a response to this mission to create equitable access to opportunities for diverse healthcare professionals to achieve professional success. Putting the tools and resources into the hands of diverse talent. My experiences have allowed me to shape Limitless Nurses as a platform that empowers healthcare professionals to thrive, grow their leadership potential and advance their careers.

Limitless Nurses is an innovative community that fosters growth and development among diverse healthcare professionals, focusing on leadership growth and career advancement. We provide access to tailored performance coaching, mentoring, and facilitated sessions through its membership platform, creating a supportive environment that encourages continuous learning and improvement.

The programmes offered by Limitless Nurses are curated to specifically empower diverse healthcare professionals to identify and unlock new career opportunities, enhancing personal and professional growth. Our workshops and training sessions cover essential topics such as influence, leadership growth, personal branding, and cross-cultural management, providing practical tools for members to excel.

Through Limitless Nurses, many healthcare professionals have found an empowering space where they can thrive at work, grow their leadership potential, and advance their careers, cementing the community's role as a vital conduit for positive change in the healthcare industry.

Limitless Nurses provides a holistic approach to career advancement by integrating personalised performance coaching, targeted workshops, and mentoring programs designed with diverse healthcare professionals in mind. The services are tailored to address specific needs and challenges faced by this talent population in the healthcare sector, ensuring relevance and applicability to those seeking career growth in this field. By partnering with industry experts and collaborating with well-established research-based organisations, Limitless Nurses offers insights and opportunities that are uniquely aligned.

We emphasise emotionally intelligent and strength-based leadership growth and personal branding, offering specialised tools and resources rarely found in conventional career guidance programs and targeted to diverse talent. Continuous evaluation and feedback from our members allow for the constant refinement and innovation of the services, ensuring that Limitless Nurses stays ahead of the curve in meeting the evolving needs of its community. We are launching our 3rd iteration of transformation for year 23/24.

A significant challenge I faced was working with a senior executive who would consistently cut me off whenever it was my turn to speak at meetings. This behaviour triggered my imposter syndrome.

This situation created a sense of self-doubt, and it was an uphill task to understand the underlying reasons behind her actions and what they meant for my professional development. Through introspection, empathy, and careful analysis of her behaviour, I could make sense of her actions without blaming myself.

This process made me more self-assured and determined, transforming a potentially debilitating experience into an empowering lesson. This personal growth has shaped my approach to Limitless Nurses by reinforcing the importance of self-awareness, resilience, and the ability to navigate complex interpersonal dynamics. It has also accentuated the necessity of supporting diverse healthcare professionals who may face similar challenges, thus influencing our programmes that address personal and professional growth.

By turning this personal challenge into a learning experience, I've infused Limitless Nurses with a compassionate and realistic perspective, allowing it to become a source of empowerment and support for other diverse talents navigating their unique challenges in the healthcare profession.

Four years on, I can say that this journey has offered me invaluable lessons. In no particular order, here are a few things I've learned:

  1. There's immense power in the learning phases of any endeavour.
  2. Deeply listening to the stakeholders of your business can bring about transformation.
  3. Time is ample, provided we bravely prioritise what truly matters.
  4. Procrastination is the offspring of fear. Ask yourself, "What am I afraid of?"
  5. Thinking, acting, and learning is better than regretting.
  6. Energy is a resource to budget wisely.
  7. Choosing a mission and business name that excites you makes all the difference.

We have partnered with the NHS, Gallup, Maxwell Leadership and other notable industry leaders in Leadership and Career advancement to ensure our members stand out.

We have a strong focus on diversity, inclusion, and equitable access. This has positioned Limitless Nurses as a champion for change, attracting a wide array of healthcare professionals and contributing to a positive workplace culture.

Leveraging personal experiences and insights in healthcare leadership to create authentic and relatable content has fostered trust and engagement within the community, enhancing the overall influence of Limitless Nurses.

Tailoring our programs specifically to the unique challenges and opportunities faced by this talent population within healthcare has allowed Limitless Nurses to resonate with professionals in the field, enhancing its impact.

Our commitment to continuous innovation and responsiveness to members' needs through feedback-driven improvement have ensured that Limitless Nurses remains a dynamic and relevant resource, setting it apart as a thought leader in the healthcare industry.

Looking back at the beginning of my journey as an early career nurse, I wish I had known the importance of starting with the end in mind. I would not have stayed in my first role as long as I did. I now share this strategy with early career members at Limitless Nurses. This principle is not just a concept; it's a vital strategy that gives focus and direction. Keeping the end goal in sight ensures that you don't stay stuck in one place; instead, you continually move towards realising your vision, adapting, and growing along the way. The clarity that comes from having a well-defined goal can guide decisions, align efforts, and motivate relentless pursuit, even in the face of challenges.

For those aspiring or just starting in the healthcare leadership field, I would advise adopting this mindset from the beginning: Define your end goal, articulate what success looks like, and let it be the compass that guides your path. This approach has not only shaped my journey into senior nurse management and with starting Limitless Nurses, but it can also be a foundational principle for anyone aspiring to make a positive impact in healthcare or any other professional endeavour at the highest level.

Apart from continuing to grow Limitless Nurses into the preferred partner for health and care organisations to support workforce retention and career advancement for diverse talent, my next move includes a continued role as Project Director for "the African Well Woman Project." This community health and wellbeing project aims to support the health and wellbeing of women of African descent living in the diaspora. We offer health and wellbeing coaching sessions to women aged 18 and above working on short or long-term health and wellbeing goals. As part of our initiative, we have also published "The African Well Woman Cook Book" in collaboration with the multi-award-winning former BBC MasterChef Quarter Finalist (2016) and Nutritionist Nomalanga Senda (Noma Creates). This cookbook, available on Amazon, Waterstones, and Barnes and Noble, exemplifies our commitment to addressing critical healthcare issues and disparities that disproportionately affect women, further solidifying the connection between nutrition, health, and overall wellbeing in our community.

As a longstanding member of Forward Ladies, my ongoing membership is continually inspired by the shared sense of purpose and the community's dedication to empowering women in various professional fields. The network's commitment to supporting leadership growth, providing opportunities for collaboration, and fostering inclusiveness has resonated with my values and vision for Limitless Nurses.

My experiences with Forward Ladies have been filled with opportunities for personal and professional development through engaging events, workshops, and the chance to connect with like-minded individuals who are passionate about growth and success. The community's mentorship and mutual encouragement spirit has been particularly enriching, aligning with my work at Limitless Nurses and my broader mission to support diverse healthcare professionals. For those considering joining, I would wholeheartedly recommend Forward Ladies as a platform that offers valuable connections, relevant resources, and an inspiring environment that can significantly contribute to achieving one's goals.
